The Literacy Of Literacy, By Deborah Brandt, And Malcom X...
I can recall many people who have enriched my literacy development in some way or another throughout my life. The most influential literacy sponsors in my life include my mother, myself, my high school English teacher, and even my librarian. Even the authors Deborah Brandt, and Malcom X have supported my claim. The essay, ââ¬Å"Sponsors of Literacyâ⬠was written by Deborah Brandt, who connected her writing with her sponsors. Malcom Xââ¬â¢s essay, ââ¬Å"Learning to Readâ⬠, reminded me of one of the most important things I know. These people, myself included, have made a crucial impact on the literacy information I have and will always need in order to succeed with literature and in life itself. My mother taught me how to read at a young age. She read to me before I could read which helped me learn new words and develop a basic understanding of literature at an early age. When it came time for me to attend elementary school, I remember heading to the library quite often. Books were organized based on what was thought to be the appropriate reading material for that grade level. I often found myself wandering down the isles with the older kids. Iââ¬â¢m so grateful my mother encouraged reading as much as she did. If she hadnââ¬â¢t, itââ¬â¢s very possible I could have struggled with reading. If this were true, I wouldnââ¬â¢t have learned as much as I did, or had the desire to read, which is very important in order to become as advanced in literature as possible. I have also advanced myself in literature. One
